Hello

I've recently joined NRAS, as last I feel there is support and I'm not alone! Smile I was diagnosed March last year, at present I'm on prednisolone and up to recently diclofenac. I'm about to start another cycle of fertility treatment so I've to stop the diclofenac.

I have been married since 2005, I do feel for my husband what with all my ailments and I'm only 36!

I've been in a bit of pain the last few days, hands, elbows, shoulders. Really gets you down doesn't it! Sad

Lou x

Welcome to the NRAS forum LouSmile

I'm Helly, 35 and was born with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. It went into remission in my teens but came back last year. I'm currently on Lodine SR (etodolac - anti-inflammatory), hydroxychloroquine (plaquenil) and have quarterly steroid injections.

Can totally understand your frustration, especially at only just getting married (I got married in 2006) and also with the fertility treatment. I've always been on medication and tried to come off in 2008 also for fertility treatment, but arthur threw a bit of a tantrum RollEyes

How are you finding things?

Hello and a BIG welcome from me too.

I am Jenni, aged 34 and have 3 children. I had a baby after being told I couldnt for a long time- I adopted the older 2 so I have a 14, a 12 and a 2.5 yr old.

I have severe RA Im afraid and developing an impressive collection of other immune related stuff to boot!

There are a few ladies TTC on here, plus a pregnant one!

I wont be having any more mind you- think 3 is enough! If you look on the section link to the old forum, my blog is on the pregnancy section.

Much love and looking forward to seeing you post regularly.

Hi Lou

Welcome to the forum but sorry you have RA, especially at a young age.

I'm Lyn, married with four children. Diagnosed with sero-negative RA 22 years ago and currently on Enbrel, Mtx, prednisolone, naproxen and a bucket load of other bits!! Run the gamut of meds and a fair number of ops but heyho ... it could be worse!

Yes, it does get you down at times but you will find oodles of support and friendly folk on here so please keep posting!

Look forward to getting to know you better,

Lyn x

Hello Lou and welcome, yes it can get you down but being part of the Forum will help. I know that my husband finds it difficult to see me in such a lot of pain as yours must. I have been married to Mick for 39 years and I've had RA for 10 years. Glenys.

Thank you! Smile

Wow, i felt a little tearful reading your messages of support. Such a shame there is so many of us with this condition but at least we are not alone x

I've had a few cycles of fertility treatment since getting married in 2005, but this will be the first cycle whilst having RA. I'm a little worried about the drugs! I also have an under-active thyroid gland, I have been told that all these ailments are connected? Just wondered if anyone else had been told the same? Confused

Lou x

hi again

the underactive thyroid is connected with the RA, as it is auto immune issue.

here is an article about it.

http://www.articlesbase....d-arthritis-329969.html

the beauty of it is for most people it is settled by thyroxin. I wonder how long you have had RA symptoms? Sometimes once the RA is better controlled, the body stops trying to fight itself and the chances of getting pregnant and staying pregnant increase.

If you ring up NRAS they can send you some research about fertility and RA, in general there is no reason why you cannot go onto have a successful pregnancy. they should be testing for things like ANAs and the anti Ro and anti La in your bloods as they can be linked to immune system diseases (not RA in particular but are still found in RAers but more common in Lupus SLE and sjrogens).

Hope this helps.

Hi Lou,

I'm Lorna I have had RA for almost 3 years now, I am on Methotrexate and Hydroxochloriquine and Folic Acid. I have been married for 28 years and have 3 daughters. Hope all goes well with your fertility treatment and the RA calms down to let you enjoy a pregnancy. Love Lorna xx

Hi Lou, Welcome. Sorry you have been diagnosed. It is a lot to take on board espcially when you are TTC conceive as well. I was diagnosed 2 years ago and (fingers crossed) enjoying a stable patch thanks to MTX and Hydroxy. I have 2 children (3 and 5) - RA triggered after birth of second. Sympathise about fertility issues - had alot of help with my first - all I would say is don't give up - I never thought I would be a mummy and still pinch myself 5 years on. Good luck with everything. Jo Smile
